In spite of the fact that the population of Slidell had increased by 50% to 80% (which was evident by the traffic), there were signs for employment on many, many businesses in the area. The starting pay at this McDonalds was $8/hr! |

Here's a movie theater sign at the mall
in Slidell. At least this one was still standing. The one a
few miles from here was completely knocked down.
In general, large plastic signs seemed to be high on Katrina's hit list. |
