Post-Katrina Explorations: Misc. Sites and Sights
The following are a random assortment of pictures left over from this trip that didn't fit neatly into any of the other galleries.

This is a large billboard in Metarie (town just south of the lake and west of N.O.).

It was turned on its side.  This picture was taken from an overpass.

Here's the same billboard viewed from the opposite direction and from the ground.

In spite of the fact that the population of Slidell had increased by 50% to 80% (which was evident by the traffic), there were signs for employment on many, many businesses in the area.  The starting pay at this McDonalds was $8/hr!

Here's a movie theater sign at the mall in Slidell.  At least this one was still standing.  The one a few miles from here was completely knocked down.

In general, large plastic signs seemed to be high on Katrina's hit list.

This is the picture they put in the 2006 edition of most dictionaries under the word optimism.

Just next to the Superdome is the basketball arena, but my focus here is the Dome's sign which still wasn't working.

Here's another knocked over billboard, this tme in N.O. East.  Not that there's anyone around to advertise to anyway.

There are the concrete blobs used to (barely) achor the sign.

For scale, that's a steering wheel that happened to have found its way into the hole.

Here are some search and rescue tags in N.O. East.

Apparently they were sent out to check for a dog...

...maybe this one.

This tag was on a building right next door.
