As titillating as the name "web stripper"
sounds, these programs are relatively mundane. They simply download
entire web sites onto your hard drive. The result is that you have
all the content available off-line. This is useful if you need an
entire web site as a back-up, reference, or to use as a template.
Sometimes this is good insurance if a site goes down and you really need
the otherwise irretrievable information.
HTTrack
The program is very easy to use
and has had very few problems. It is apparently sophisticated enough
to know its way around even those sites with more unusual code (e.g., Java
and/or secure connections). Of the programs I have used in this category,
this one was undoubtedly the best. I may post the reviews of others
at some later date, but try this one first.
