Genetics questions for study
1. Who was Gregor Mendel?  When was he alive?  What kinds of experiments did he do?  Where did he do them?  What did they prove?


2.  What are alleles?  What does independent assortment mean?

3. What is the difference between genotype and phenotype?  Give examples of homozygous recessive, heterozygous, and homozygous dominant genotypes.  What do they tell you?

4.  What is “crossing over” and when/where does it occur?

5.  What does it mean if a trait is sex linked?  What is the opposite of “sex-linked”?  Give at least two examples of sex-linked genes.
