Wal-Mart apologizes to Muslim woman
AP 2/20/08
RIVERDALE, Utah - Wal-Mart Stores Inc. apologized to a Muslim woman who said she was mocked because of her face veil.  [However, the apology was rescinded when it was realized that the receipt for the mockery was over 30 days old.]

"Please don't stick me up," a cashier told the shopper on Feb. 2, according to The Council on American-Islamic Relations. [The council pointed out that this is not only politically incorrect but also impractical since the sensible thing to do would be to say, "I beseach you in the name of Allah, please do not detonate the explosives concealed beneath your burka!"]

Wal-Mart apologized Monday in a letter signed by Rolando Rodriquez, a vice president and regional general manager. It was released Tuesday by the council's Nevada chapter.  [Yes, Nevada.  Not Utah.  Nevada.  Read on.]

"I can assure you that the associate in question was disciplined in accordance with our employment policies as a result of the situation," Rodriguez said without disclosing details. [In other words, he was made to watch hours upon hours of training videos on multiculturalism.  Social studies students should feel free to contrast this with the 50+ lashes he would have received under Islamic law for speaking to a woman who was not his property.]

Rodriguez said employees at the Riverdale store would undergo "sensitivity training," specifically in the Islamic faith and Muslim culture.  [Unfortunately, this will ultimately mean being forced to take down the ubiquitous American flags that represent the right of Americans to jokingly remark upon the ongoing backward practice of dressing like a fucking bee-keeper in the middle of the desert, be it an American one or otherwise.]

At Wal-Mart headquarters in Bentonville, Ark., spokesman Phillip Keene confirmed the letter and declined further comment.  [Admittedly, this was in an amateur video-taped message filmed at an undisclosed location in which he held the letter in front of the camera while gagged and surrounded by the armed captors who had taken him hostage.]

"We applaud Wal-Mart for taking appropriate action to resolve this incident," said Yasser Moten, executive director of the council's Nevada chapter. The group doesn't have an office in Utah. [This is in spite of the wealth of knowledge that might reasonably be exchanged between the two polygamy-friendly cultures.]
