Halloween Music
Songs with themes relating musically or lyrically to the Halloween season are easy to come by, but in case you're having trouble thinking of some tracks to play at your costume party or to set the atmosphere for trick or treaters, here are some ideas.

TV
Shows are good because they're short and capture a (usually kitchy) theme in a minute or so.
  • The Addams Family
  • Alfred Hitchcock Presents
  • Bewitched
  • Theme From Dark Shadows
  • The Munsters
  • The Twilight Zone
  • X-Files Theme

Soundtracks
There's nothing better for setting the mood for a creepy scene than finding music written just for that purpose, and that's what film music is all about.
  • The Exorcist - Mike Oldfield - Tubular Bells
  • Theme from Halloween - John Carpenter
  • Hellraiser and Hellraiser II: Hellbound - Christopher Young
  • Jaws Theme - John Williams
  • Psycho - Bernard Herrmann

Classical
Many classical pieces have found their way into use in movies and other media precisely because they're like soundtracks for visuals before the fact.
  • Bach - Tocatta & Fugue In D Minor
  • Funeral March
  • Modest Mussorgsky - Night on Bald Mountain

Musicals
These are great for folks (like me, admittedly) who love to not only dress up but also to get into character and perform.
  • The Nightmare Before Xmas - Danny Elfman
  • Phantom of the Opera - Andrew Lloyd Webber
  • Rocky Horrow Picture Show - Richard O'Brien

Rock and Roll
This ranges the gamut of styles, so it depends on your purpose.  Here again we have kitchy, fun songs, but there are plenty of darker offerings as well.
  • AC/DC - Hell's Bells
  • AC/DC - Highway to Hell
  • Alan Parsons Project - The Tell-Tale Heart
  • Alice Cooper - Welcome To My Nightmare
  • B-52s - Rock Lobster (more for the music than lyrical context)
  • Black Sabbath - Sabbath Bloody Sabbath
  • Blue Oyster Cult - Don't Fear the Reaper
  • Bobbie Boris Pickett & The Crypt-Kickers - Monster Mash
  • Bow Wow Wow - I Want Candy
  • Concrete Blonde - Bloodletting
  • CCR - Bad Moon Rising
  • Cure - Lullaby
  • Doors - People Are Strange
  • Duane Eddy - Ghost Riders In the Sky
  • Eagles - Witchy Woman
  • Edgar Winter Group - Frankenstein
  • Kiss - Creatures of The Night
  • Marilyn Manson - Sweet Dreams (see also cover of "This Is Halloween" by Manson)
  • Meatloaf - Bat Out of Hell
  • Metallica - Enter Sandman
  • Michael Jackson - Thriller by (preferably the dance mix from the video)
  • Nine Inch Nails - Dead Souls
  • Ooingo Boingo - Weird Science
  • Ozzy Osboune - Bark at the Moon
  • Pat Benatar - Hell is for Children
  • Ramones - Pet Sematary
