Couples Costume Bank
Nothing is sadder to me than seeing a couple show up and they didn't coordinate.  I mean, you don't even know that Wonder Woman and the Zombie are together.  It's like a cry for marriage counseling or something.  Okay, maybe no one is into Halloween like my partner Dani and I are, but for those who are, here are some ideas for couples we have been compiling since our first Halloween.
Note: These are all hetero couples ideas, but you can always modify them for two guys (e.g., Batman and Catwoman becomes Batman and Robin) or two girls (e.g., Batgirl and Catwoman).
 
Movie/TV characters
  • Neo and Trinity from The Matrix (We did this one in 2003)
  • Tron and Yori from Tron
  • Jack Skellington and Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas (We did this one in 2007)
  • Hedwig and Yitzak from Hedwig and the Angry Inch
  • Morticia and Gomez from The Addams Family
  • Beetlejuice and Lydia from Beetlejuice
  • Dr. Who and Leela [or insert fav companion] from Dr. Who
  • Riff Raff and Magenta (butler and maid costumes) from Rocky Horror (We did this one in 2006)
  • Riff Raff and Magenta (gold costumes) also from Rocky Horror Picture Show
  • Frank -N- Furter and Columbia from Rocky Horror
  • Tyler Durden and Marla Singer from Fight Club


Star Wars characters

  • Princess Leia and Han Solo (or Luke?) from Star Wars
  • Darth Maul vs. Padme from The Phantom Menace
  • R2-D2 and C-3PO from any Star Wars movie
  • The Emperor vs. Yoda from Revenge of the Sith (We did this one in 2005)


Monsters

  • Pinhead and female Cenobite from Hellraiser (Dani vetos this one every year, but I bring it up anyway every time we talk about costumes.)
  • Frankenstein and the Bride
  • Cleopatra and the Mummy


Cartoon/Comic book characters

  • Thing One and Thing Two from Dr. Seuss's Cat in the Hat (Dani and her co-worker Melanie did this in 2006)
  • Batman and Catwoman
  • Peter Pan and Wendy (or Tinkerbell)
  • Space Ghost and Brak
  • The Wonder Twins from The Super Friends
  • Raggedy Ann and Andy (I veto this one every year, but Dani brings it up anyway every time we talk about costumes.)

  • Destro (or Cobra Commander) and the Baroness (from GI Joe)

Group ideas

Many of couples ideas can also be expanded into group ideas.  For example, Winnie the Pooh and Tigger might be a great one for a couple, but can always be extended to cover more of the cast of the books/movies.

  • Fantastic Four: Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch, and the Thing
  • X-Men: Wolverine, Cyclops, Storm, Phoenix, Nightcrawler, etc.
  • Justice League: Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, etc.
  • Peanuts characters: Charlie Brown, Linus, Lucy, Sally, Snoopy, Woodstock, etc.
  • Winnie the Pooh characters: Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, etc.
  • Hellraiser: Pinhead, Female, Chatterer, and Butterball
  • Ghostbusters: Any four guys in jumpers with backpacks as proton packs
