Dan Brown: How to rip yourself off

I just read Angels & Demons by Dan Brown the other day.  Aside from all the clichés in the writing, wasn't this just an unbelievable rip off of The Da Vinci Code?  I couldn't believe all the parallels in the story structure right down to the details.  I should have kept a more thorough list of similarities as I was reading it, but here's are a few I came up with just now:

• Robert Langdon is brought in by a stranger to interpret an unusual murder scene
• Wheelchair guy
• Female protagonist is an orphan
• Secret societies are at odds with the Catholic church
• Jesus has a child; the Pope has a child
• The decendant of Jesus/Pope turns out to be one of the main characters in the end.

I mean, The Da Vinci Code was good, but not twice!
